Nokia and UNESCO New Apps to Improve Literacy Skills

Nokia and UNESCO Pakistan announced to launch of a basic literacy application which named eTaleem for Nokia phones. eTaleem will allow users to easily access their lessons for Urdu reading, phonetics,word synthesis,Sentence making and basic math.

eTaleem has been developed by “Lakson Business Solutions for Nokia” as a component to “UNESCO Project “Mobile Literacy training” for “Literacy Training of Rural Female Adults”. This application can be downloaded at most Nokia S40 devices.

According to the latest (PSLM) Survey 2010-11, the literacy rate in our country is 58 percent lower rates in rural areas for women. Using the mobile phone as learning tools via UNESCO project can be accelerate the literacy level in Pakistan.

Presently,More than 2500 adult female learners in districts of Punjab and KPK are using eTaleem application as part of the 6 months literacy training program. Nokia is providing the mobile learning app to UNESCO as part of the global partnership; UNESCO and Nokia joined hands for progress towards meeting one of the United Nation’s Goals -“Education for Al over the worldl”.

Install eTaleem atNokia Phones:

Follow the procedure to install eTaleem application at Nokia devices:

Requirements:

• eTaleem.zip can be download from this link (8 MB)
• Nokia phone (compatibility list is bellow)
• Memory Card
• Card Reader
• PC or Notebook

Instructions for Installation:

• connect the memory card using memory card reader with PC.
• Unzip complete contents of eTaleem.zip. ( ETaleem.jad and ETaleem.jar)
• Copy both file  into the memory card.
• Eject memory card
• Insert memory card inyour Nokia mobile.
• Turn on your mobile and open the Menu.
• Select Applications/My Apps/Memory Card/eTeleem.jad
